A U.S. high school student made headlines after discovering that a single drop of oregano oil wiped out every bacterial colony in a lab test — even outperforming amoxicillin.

The oil’s power lies in two potent compounds: carvacrol and thymol, which puncture bacterial membranes and disrupt their DNA activity, making survival nearly impossible.

Beyond its antibacterial effects, oregano oil has also shown antiviral and antifungal potential in various studies. Scientists believe it could one day play a crucial role in the fight against antibiotic resistance, enhancing the strength of existing medications.

Still, experts caution that more clinical research is needed before it can be safely used as a medical alternative — but the discovery marks an exciting step forward in natural medicine.
Guess who will use more of this?
