A LOOK INTO THE PAST
When I was seventeen I enlisted into the navy. They called it a kiddy cruise. You go in when you're 17, you get discharged on the 21st day of your birthday.
I left Lowell, MA and headed to Norfolk Naval base in Virginia.
I originally wanted to be on submarines; however the navy put me on a destroyer, whos main purpose was to hunt and destroy enemy submarines! Go figure??
We shipped out of Norfolk and headed east to spend some time doing NATO maneuvers. On the return trip back home, We visited ports from Greenland to the Mediterranean. We were gone for three months.😉
Here I was at 18, doing the unimaginable; I LOVED IT.😃
When we stopped in Amsterdam, I bought a pair of their wooden shoes, they fascinated me.😉

I wound up leaving them with my mother, when I went home for a visit.
When my mother passed , Marcia and I went back east to clear things out of her apartment. There were the shoes!😀
Now they are on a shelf in the garage where I see them frequently. Today, I thought that I'd share this memorable look into the past.
Life has been good, all 90 years + 7 months of it.😉
